HeadSmart Presents on Pain Management in Occupational Rehabilitation.

On the 29th April 2020, I had the pleasure of presenting to a group of over 250 Occupational Rehabilitation professionals on a topic that I am very passionate about; the effective management of chronic pain. When I was working in the OR industry myself, pain always felt to me like the “unsolvable barrier” to helping clients to return to work following illness or injury. Pain seems to be really good at stopping people from being able to live a fulfilling and enjoyable life and it sometimes seems difficult to find treatment that really works. I developed quite a curiosity about this and so I decided to find out more by researching and writing my Masters dissertation on effective treatments for chronic pain. I now work with many people, who face daily pain, to try and help them to find happiness and fulfillment, despite pain.

Thanks to the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (ARPA), I was able to share this knowledge as part of their weekly webinar series. This is a wonderful initiative from ARPA, designed to help professionals in the occupational rehabilitation industry to maintain their professional development, despite the current coronavirus restrictions. As a result of my participation in this series, I was also asked to present for the International Virtual Pain Summit in London, UK. I feel very privileged to have these opportunities to share my learnings and hopefully extend help to a wider group of people experiencing pain.
